Egg Donation

Egg Donation involves using In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) techniques to obtain eggs from the ovaries of an appropriately screened woman (donor). These eggs are then fertilised with sperm from the recipient’s partner, and resulting embryos are placed in the recipient’s uterus.

If the pregnancy is achieved, the resulting child will be genetically related to the male partner but not to the female recipient.

Recipient recruited donation:

This refers to the recipient finding their own donor, usually a relative, friend or perhaps by advertising.

Clinic Recruited donation:

Extremely limited numbers of clinic recruited donors are available. For a recipient to receive clinic recruited donation they must meet eligibility criteria.

The Egg Donor program is managed by the Donor Team at Repromed. The Donor Co-ordinators, Manager of the program, Repromed doctors and counsellors and nurses are all part of the team and will be guiding you through the pathway. There are a series of medical and counselling appointments and medical tests that are mandatory for both donors and recipients and a timeline of 6 months should be anticipated prior to starting any IVF treatments.
