There are many people who will not be able to have children without the generous help of someone else. Each situation is unique, but egg donor recipients have made the decision that having a family is important enough to go through a significant emotional and physical journey to reach their goal.
Donating eggs involves using IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) to obtain eggs from the ovaries of the donor who has been screened and worked through the process to become a donor. These eggs are then fertilized with sperm (either the recipient’s partner or a donor). Once fertilized, an embryo will be placed in to the recipient‘s uterus.
The decision to donate eggs involves many considerations, including potential long term psychological, social, health and legal implications. If you’re considering being an egg donor, you can make a wonderful contribution and your donation could be truly life changing for another person or couple.
