COVID-19 testing update – 15th October 2021

Kia ora,

As you would expect, with the rising cases of Covid-19 in Auckland, the safety of our clients and our team is top priority.  Therefore, from Friday 22nd October, we require a negative Covid-19 test to be completed by all clients as part of treatment cycles.

We are taking this step to minimise the chance of Covid-19 entering our clinic which would mean treatments could not continue – a heart-breaking scenario that we passionately want to avoid.

We plan to keep this as simple and stress-free as possible for clients.

  • From Friday 22nd October, all clients and support people will be required to show a negative COVID test result before entering the Repromed building.
  • A Covid-19 test will need to be completed 4 days prior to coming into the clinic.
    • ie. Clients with treatment on Friday 22nd October would need to have a test on Tuesday 19th October.
  • There is no need to worry about the specifics of when to have a test – your nursing team will guide you on the timings.
  • Please note that if you require urgent access to our service for an unscheduled visit (eg miscarriage or post treatment complications), and you do not have an up to date COVID test result- we want to assure you, we will be able to see you with additional PPE and precautions.

Test requirements:

  • There will be a maximum of two tests per cycle, which is adequate based on our risk analysis:
    • Before 1st appointment or scan
    • Before your procedure (i.e. egg collection, insemination, frozen embryo transfer)
  • There is no need to isolate after the Covid-19 test, however we request that you minimise contact with people after a test to reduce the risk. We especially advise staying at home as much as possible after an OPU (egg collection), if you are scheduled to have an embryo transfer.  Best to play it safe in the hope of successful pregnancy.
  • We will require evidence of your negative test. At the entrance of our clinic, a staff member will ask to see the Covid-10 test results email or text message you will have received for verification. No entrance will be allowed if a negative test result cannot be shown.

Getting a test:

  • You can get a Covid-19 test from anywhere you choose (i.e. your GP or a testing station) 4 days prior.
  • One Health at 122 Remuera Road (across the road from our clinic) is available for our clients. Call 09 522 2800 to book in a time between 8am – 7pm.
  • A Covid-19 test is quick and easy.
  • There is no cost for a test.

  • Fully vaccinated people will still require a test as Covid-19 can still be carried (although the risk is significantly reduced and there may not be any symptoms).
  • If not yet vaccinated, we strongly recommend getting vaccinated to protect yourself from Covid-19 BEFORE being vulnerable in pregnancy. Evidence shows that there is no scientific or medical reason not to get vaccinated during fertility treatment.
  • We have resources on our website with more information.
  • All Repromed clinic staff are fully vaccinated and undergoing regular surveillance testing.

We appreciate that this is an added task to your already full schedule of treatment requirements, and we want to emphasise how important it is to us to make this as straightforward for you as possible.  Please ensure you contact one of our nursing team if you have any questions or concerns regarding this change in practice.  We will be reassessing our processes regularly to ensure we are delivering the most current testing options available to us.

Nga mihi,

Dr Guy Gudex
