Repromed at COVID-19 Alert Level 3 – 20th October 2021

Kia ora,

Auckland Tamaki Makaurau is at COVID-19 Alert Level 3 and we are here to support all Repromed clients. Minimising community transmission is critical so we will be operating with the necessary safety precautions and limitations – however good news, most of Repromed services and treatments continue at Alert Level 3.

At Alert Level 3, Repromed will be offering limited numbers of the following cycles:

  • IVF / ICSI / PGT
  • Frozen Embryo Transfers (FET) – manufactured cycles only
  • Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and Donor Insemination (DI) – modified (no blood tests, LH urine with a scan and trigger)
  • Ovulation Induction (OI)
  • Sperm freezing where required
  • Urgent Semen Analysis and SCSA testing
  • Scans and some blood tests

At Alert Level 2 Repromed will return to offering all treatments and services including:

  • FET – natural cycles
  • Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and Donor Insemination – unmodified cycles

Keeping our clinic safe

For Repromed to safely operate at Alert Level 3 we are required to maintain a heightened level of safety precautions which includes COVID testing, social distancing, minimising face to face contact, screening procedures and the wearing of masks as specifically outlined below.

  1. A negative COVID-19 test is now essential for all clients, required to be completed prior to your first visit to the clinic and again prior to any treatment procedure. Your Repromed nurse will inform you exactly when and where to get this test performed. Click HERE for information about what is involved
  2. Please wear a mask when you come to the Repromed clinic, even if you don’t have any symptoms and are fully vaccinated
  3. Alert one of our nurses if you have any cold or viral symptoms before attending the clinic – do not attend the clinic if you are feeling unwell
  4. Complete our online COVID-19 questionnaire  before every visit to the clinic – our admin team will send you the link
  5. Use the hand sanitiser in the clinic foyer when you arrive and leave
  6. We will check your temperature when you arrive
  7. To reduce social contact we are:
    • staggering appointment times
    • restricting access to clients only (sorry no support people or partners)
    • requesting people to produce their sperm samples at home
    • spacing out the waiting room chairs
    • offering virtual consultations with doctors and drug teaches with nurses
    • encouraging clients and support people to wait in their cars where possible until called

Check the Labtest website before attending for bloods

Labtests have reduced the number of locations that are available for blood tests, so we highly recommend that you check www.labtests.co.nz to find out which one is open nearest you.

Coming from out of town

For those traveling from out of Auckland Tamaki Makaurau for treatment at our clinic, our team will provide letters to advise that you are required to travel for essential treatment, or they may make a suggestion for your treatment timing.

 Public funding

As always, with Repromed there is no difference in the way private and public treatments are managed or prioritised for Book-ons during Alert Level 3.  For public clients, your wait has unfortunately been extended due to the Level 4 lockdown and you will receive a letter with an update.

Pregnancy during COVID-19 and the vaccination

For pregnant clients and those due to have a pregnancy test, your care won’t change and you will have bloods and scans as planned, unless you’re advised.  Unfortunately we are unable to have partners attend pregnancy scans, however we will do everything possible to enable you to share this appointment with them via face time.

We understand that those that are pregnant may naturally feel anxious about their own health and that of their unborn baby.  Please discuss with our doctors or nurses if you have concerns regarding COVID-19 vaccinations and pregnancy.  Our advice is to follow the most up to date recommendations of The Royal Australian and NZ College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, which is that the COVID vaccination is safe and recommended during pregnancy. Read our vaccine guidelines here.

Summary of treatment risks during the COVID-19 Pandemic

We have put together a consent form about general risks doing treatment during a COVID-19 pandemic.  If you haven’t yet see this from the nursing team, you may be interested to see this.  Click here to read the consent form.
