It’s easier than you think.
We often get asked how easy it is to move fertility clinics after having treatment elsewhere. The good news is that it’s very simple and not expensive.
Whatever your reasons may be for wanting to changing fertility clinics, at Repromed, we have made the process easy so you can transition to our Auckland clinic in just three simple steps.
Here are some signs it might be time to consider another clinic:
- You don’t feel your concerns are heard
Communication has become inconsistent - You’ve undergone several treatment cycles without clear review or adjustment
- You want a clinic that offers more inclusive-care, better transparency or a stronger fit for your family and values
- You’ve changed location or region and need to move clinics accordingly
How to switch fertility clinics: three simple steps
- Book a consultation with one of our fertility doctors
We’ll take the time to listen to your concerns about your current clinic and how we can meet your needs.
We’ll review your medical history, what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what your goals are moving forward. - Action the switch
We’ll guide you through the entire process:
We’ll assist in requesting your medical records, test results, and history from your current clinic.
If you have eggs, embryos or sperm frozen at another clinic, we’ll manage the transfer logistics and liaise with your previous clinic directly if you wish. Transport and storage arrangements will be clarified.
We’ll set you up under our care, arrange any additional testing or reassessment, and plan your next steps. - Wait for confirmation
Once records are transferred, we’ll get you fully set up in our system, including photo ID for every clinic visit for peace of mind. Our team will ensure the transition is respectful of your previous care and the precious taonga/treasure you’ve stored (your frozen sperm, eggs, embryos, if applicable). With everything in place, you’ll be ready to move ahead.
What are the costs?
It’s typically not expensive to switch clinics to Repromed – the main costs are the first consultation and any transport of frozen embryos/eggs/sperm. Potentially additional tests and investigations are required, if they haven’t been done recently by your current clinic.
How long does it take to switch fertility clinics?
The time required depends on how quickly your original clinic responds (usually within 20 working days), and the shipping/storage logistics. You (and your partner if applicable) will be required to sign a consent form to release your personal information to us and either your existing clinic or our clinic will be able to provide this to you.
Why consider Repromed?

Common FAQ’s
Will switching delay my treatment?
Not necessarily. If your records and frozen materials are transferred smoothly, treatment can often resume without significant delay.
Will I need new tests?
Sometimes, depending on how recent your tests are and how they align with the new clinic’s protocols. Your fertility doctor will review your medical records and let you know if investigations are required.
Is it awkward to move fertility clinics?
No, people switch fertility clinics all the time to find a better fit. We can help manage the process if you wish, to minimise contact with your previous clinic.
Can I switch during an IVF cycle?
It depends on how far along you are and the logistics. Your doctor will be able to advise this in your first consultation.
What happens with my frozen embryos/eggs/sperm?
They are transported in specialised cryogenic containers by medical couriers. The process is industry standard and very safe. All your precious frozen gamates (embryos/eggs/sperm) are identify verified and tagged in our RI witness programme for ultimate protection.
The team at Repromed, including the doctors, counsellors, nurses, and lab are all here to support you. If you are interested in booking a first consultation, get in touch with us today.
